NADOR, Morocco — An official complaint has been lodged with the provincial directorate of the Ministry of National Education in Nador after a primary school teacher allegedly forced a young female pupil to clean school restrooms repeatedly.

Severe Allegations of Abuse and Mistreatment

According to the father's formal complaint, the incident took place at the Oulad Mahand primary school, part of the Lahdarah educational group in the municipality of Arekmane. The student, currently in the fifth grade, was reportedly ordered multiple times by her Arabic language teacher to clean the facility's lavatories.

The complaint details that the tasks exceeded basic cleaning:

  • The child was allegedly forced to dismantle toilet fixtures.
  • She was required to scrub facilities using harsh chemicals, including bleach.
  • The tasks caused intense distress and humiliation in front of peers and staff.

Psychological Impact and Calls for Investigation

The father reported that the ordeal has severely impacted his daughter's mental health. She reportedly suffers from acute anxiety attacks, sleep disturbances, and terror at the prospect of returning to class. Furthermore, the father stated that after he questioned school management regarding the absence of dedicated custodial staff, the teacher allegedly retaliated with threats and restricted the girl's participation in classroom activities.

The educational authorities have been formally urged to launch an administrative inquiry into the allegations, hold any responsible parties accountable, and implement safeguards to protect the student's wellbeing.
